There are so many places to purchase a reptile at, but you can’t always trust them. The reptiles aren’t always healthy, and are often kept in poor living conditions. There are better ways to get a reptile which is healthy and will live its life to the fullest, that is if you provide proper care. A reptile show is a great way to find all sorts of species.

The are a lot of people out there that do not gutload live food prior to feeding. This might work for them, but it is definitely not good for their reptile. Without food, the live feeders are empty exo-skeletons, with no nutritional value. Gutloading for feeders (crickets, mealworms, superworms) can all been done the same way. Read more »

This isn’t reptile news, but a lot of us with reptiles have some other pets. I know I personally like rats, which might be partially why I do not want a large snake. At least the frozen rats we feed to our snakes are humanely killed.

Picking out a new reptile can be tough. There are so many different colors, shapes and sizes. Some reptiles have legs, like lizards and frogs, while snakes slither. Before picking out the type of reptile you will want, you must decide on the space you are willing to devote to this animal, and the amount of money you have to put towards it.

Ghann’s Cricket Farm (http://www.ghanns.com) is a seller of live feeders. Besides selling feeders, Ghann’s sells feeder food and housing. In order to purchase from them you can order online, or attend some local shows. The Ghann’s themselves go to several shows and sell the feeders there. The prices are pretty much the same, but you might save a few dollars and subtract the shipping cost.
